Pinon community acupuncture monthly trauma/nervous system balancing clinic
What is it?
Our trauma and nervous system clinic uses an ear acupuncture protocol called the NADA protocol developed to help balance people’s nervous systems and settle the spirit following trauma, crisis, or rough life changes. You’ll receive 5 needles in each ear which stay in for 45 minutes. Everyone gets the same 10 needles and we will not be taking requests. If you have other concerns you would like to address with acupuncture, please consider scheduling an appointment during our regular clinic hours – we want to help.
Who can do it?
ANYONE experiencing distress or overwhelm in any capacity, including from:
-
Any form of violence
-
Military/combat PTS
-
Major life changes such as loss, displacement
-
political/economic grief
-
Anything that has activated PTS/CPTS from any cause
Even if you just feel a little “not myself,” that’s enough. We don’t compare anyone’s trauma or overwhelm here. We are here to support you.
Can kids get a treatment?
Kids often respond very well to this protocol, but we don’t recommend needles for kids under the age of 10. For kids younger than 10, we can use ear seeds instead, which are little beads on sticky tape that they can leave in their ears for a day or two.
How much does it cost?
This clinic runs a sliding scale from $20-30 per person. No income verification or identification required.
When is it?
We will do our best to run this clinic on one sunday of each month, and also do our best to post dates on instagram and facebook as well as the clinic bulletin board. You can also look at the schedule page and if you see a bubble on a random Sunday, it’s probably the trauma/nervous system clinic:

Keep in mind:
- This is a community setting, so you will be seated in comfortable chairs in a room with other fellow wonderful humans who are also here for some support. This is an inclusive space for all who seek healing and any kind of hate or discrimination will not be tolerated.
- This is NOT a pain clinic. We will not fulfill requests for additional points for any purpose, not even your favorite point (as much as we love those points too!). Sometimes, settling the nervous system calms the brain’s interpretation of pain signals anyway.
- Because a clinic like this can get very busy and move very fast, we will have very little time to chat about your individual circumstances. And since this clinic is meant to create a space for nervous systems to settle and feel safe, we request that you remain respectfully quiet during your treatment to allow others to fully relax.
- This clinic practices what we call trauma-informed care, meaning that if you are coming here, we believe that you need support, and we won’t dig up the details or ask you to justify your reason for coming. You being here is enough for us.
- Masks encouraged, but not required.
For a more personal treatment with more time and attention dedicated to your specific concerns or needs, please visit our regular community clinic or request a private treatment with Cat.
